Dressed for Success
Dressed for Success
Whether you are dressing for a first date or an interview for a first job, dressing the part is crucial for success. If you are called in for an interview for an important article editing position you don't want to waltz in as if you are trying for a position as first hostess at Hooters. You want to be thoughtful to the attire you are going to attempt to put together for this interviewer.
How to dress expensively without breaking the bank
It is imperative that when dressing for such occasions you dress expensively. If you're short on cash, don't rush to the nearest "bargain 2 U" store and waste money on a bunch of clothes that won’t flatter you and on top of that insult the intellect that got you the interview in the first place. Rather than racking up as many clothes as you can cram into what's left of your credit limit, put some thought into a few outfits that help you make a bold, yet professional statement about your appearance. Head down to Nordstrom Rack or maybe the Gap. There you will be able to find bargain prices on clothes that won't scream out how cheap you got off. You will relish the fact that you’ve saved yourself from countless trips to the “Factory Plus Store" with the collection you are piecing together for your well planned wardrobe.
Rotate Your New Wardrobe
Now that you have identified the right stores to score the perfect outfits for the job you are positively going be offered, you need to make sure you have the following:
1. At least one pencil skirt
2. At least one pair of black or pin-striped slacks
3. A button-up blouse
4. Stockings
5. A blazer
6. At least 4 plain T's and/or cami's
These items are considered staples. They should match pretty well together and complement other pieces of the same outfit. If you have just a few staples, then you should be able to rotate your new wardrobe with a new and exciting outfit for each day during the work week. Later you can add new items such as scarves, hats or jewlery to spice up your current outfits.
In the End
When you show up for the interview dressed for success, you will feel confident and expensive. With that in mind you won’t settle for anything, and this confidence seeping through your every pore will tell your future boss that you are worth every penny he is going to pay you. More importantly, you will know your worth and that will make you shine and become an accomplished super star!
